TREASURE ROCK estate

original cyanotype
We tip our hats to an Architect of the past... by sensitively updating this home originally renovated by local Newport architect J.D. Johnson circa 1905.
Our first challenge was addressing the front entry and overall approach of the home. It was important to our clients that we blend the new design seamlessly with the original structure to give this old home a place in a new era.
This property is particularly special because it not only overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to the south, but also has a view of the Newport Pell Bridge to the north. We wanted to celebrate this with an oversized front veranda and a number of sun decks to enjoy views no matter the time of day. The old halls and corridors were expanded to provide much welcomed open spaces and to harbor a special retreat for her new owners.
Finally, the surrounding landscape was given a facelift to nestle this three story structure into the hillside and once again, reunite land and home.
